Introduction
Shankarji started the first class of the year with a review of our learnings from last year. Last year, our subject was learning the qualities of admirable people by learning some of the 108 names of Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda. This year, we will be learning the 9 virtues, which are essential to learning the science of happiness
Icebreaker
We started the class with a few icebreakers, as there were many new people in the class. In the first game, we played a version of charades. One person would tell they’re name, grade, and where they were from, and then act out their favorite activity, while others would guess in the chat. Some activities people chose were biking, volleyball, drawing, and dancing.
In the 2nd game, we had to think of 1 challenge we were facing right now, and one virtue that we could use to get over the challenge. One person said one challenge was procrastinating, and they could use organization to fix that.
The reason we did this was to see how we can use virtues in our everyday life. Another thing we learned is the difference between values and virtues. Values are just having knowledge. Virtues are when you live that knowledge in your life.
Raw
This week’s raw is to bring a pot with soil and some seeds to class. We will do some gardening!
