Week 31: Understanding Stress – Pt 3

by Mahathi Yathiraju

Recap of last week!

  • Class revolved around efficiency
  • Sleeping on time, getting up early, etc
  • Spending less time grooming
  • Talked about stress and letting stress go, focusing on the present
  • We have been studying the causes, symptoms, diagnoses, and cures of stress
  • We looked at the symptomatology of stress
  • We realized that the symptoms of stress express themselves in one word: failure
  • The cause of stress is nothing more than a though
  • It varies from person to person
  • Time, Resources, and People
  • Dove into the first trigger
  • Analyzed stress in the context of supply and demand
  • When supply = demand, there is no stress
  • When supply > demand, less or no stress!
  • When the supply < demand, more stress!
  • How to do practically dress these  triggers in this context?
  • Say NO to the transactional!
  • For eg, say no the parties you were invited to and don’t really want to go but feel like you have to go out of courtesy

RAW from last week:

Think about your possessions. Qualify them as wants or needs, taking 30 minutes to think before categorizing.

The greater the disparity, the greater the distress.

——————————

The demand on time and money is variable.

For example, what you’re wearing to school, what symbol is on your shirt, these are all variables.

By utilizing our possessions, we can increase the supply!

Continue to use something if it continues to serve its purpose

The question we should be asking ourselves is: do we need more?

To increase efficiency: utilize possessions

To increase effectiveness: say no to comparing

The supply of people is fixed, and the demand is variable.

What makes you feel empowered by others?

Brainstorming:

  • when people hype you up
  • how awesome they think I am
  • when people motivate you to do better
  • When they’re like your personal cheerleaders
  • When they themselves are living their values and are role models
  • The greatest long term way of feeling empowered by someone is when someone trusts you.
  • When someone shows they have faith in you and trusts you, you feel empowered.

RAW for this week: ask someone else to put the food on your plate. Then eat everything on it.
