Week 27: Follow through

4/26/23

  • Recap: Self-confidence as exhibited by the story of Prahalad and His relationship with His father- He exhibits great integrity in doing what is right even knowing that the immediate consequences may be severe
  • Whatever we input into our personality- contributes to how our mind is shaped-we must be diligent and purposeful with what we consume
  • How do we do this? input inspiring content- learn about the lives of inspiring people
  • Watched an episode of Upanisad Ganga, the theme of which is dharma + integrity
  • Dharma: all about developing virtues- the ability to follow through with what we believe to be right
  • We must master the ability to do what is right despite what our likes and dislikes tell us to do
  • In the hierarchy of virtues- Truth is the pinnacle- the most important
  • When we are committed to doing what is right, all other virtues follow
  • The takeaway from the episode of Upanisad Ganga: only good results from adhering to the Truth even when it is difficult in the present
  • Dharma is the pillar- that which supports moral ideas for a society such that everything runs smoothly and thus we move together towards Joy
  • Whenever we live a life of integrity, we follow through this strengthens our ability to concur our likes and dislikes
  • How can we do this? Make a schedule, plan out our days
  • Person A can move forward without a plan and just hoping to get through everything they have on their plate, Person B can have the exact same responsibilities as Person A but Person B plans out their responsbilities. However, the difference is that when we make a plan ahead of time and stick to it, we make a habit of following through on what we intended to complete
  • If we can make these small wins, this will build genuine self-confidence such that we can face anything and overcome any challenge
