Notes by Rishaan Sachania
- Recapped previous lesson about independence, joy, and infinity
- Our nature is joy, how? Our nature is also infinite and so is the universe
- If I am a part of the universe, there must be some aspect of me being infinite too
- How does infinity = joy?
- Infiniteness is when there is no more desires and when we experience completeness
- That feeling is born from “I don’t want anything else”
- Why don’t we feel infinite?
- We think this world and body are real
- According to Vedanta, only things that are changeless are real
- What is real? Only existence. How?
- By pointing or identifying something, we are already implying that it exists, one cannot point to non-existence
- “That which is known cannot be the knower”
- E.g. the pencil (known) is not the knower (you)
- If one sees the body, that means we as knowers are not a part of the body because it is known and not the knower
- Conscience is the ability to see our thoughts
- We are living in our own individual subjective worlds
- “I was born”, prior to birth we did not exist
- If this is true, how to we experience our own birth?
- I only know I was born because of what people are telling me (implications)
