Review

We are talking about the 9 virtues to be happy all the time. The first one we learned is Viveka – Prioritization. The second one is Vairagya – Cheerful Acceptance. The third one is Sama – Quietude of mind. The fourth and final one is Dama – Discipline. The two ways to practice dama are reducing comforts and taking on more responsibilities.

Uparama

Uparama is understanding, or being able to see from other perspectives. When you can step into others’ shoes, there is less friction between you and the people you are around because you will be able to see their perspective.

Practice

We watched half of an Adventure Time episode. Marlene, Princess Bubblegum, Finn and Jake have to play music to open a door. Marlene and Princess Bubblegum were once best friends but they grew apart and think that they hate each other.

We had some technical difficulties and the class ended abruptly. We will continue to learn more about Uparamā in the upcoming class.

RAW

Pay attention and count all of the times when you get into an argument or fight with someone.
