Summary of last session (September 23) by Shri Mohan Khandekar
Shri Vijayji started the session by explaining the importance of Mangalacharan. One must understand Mangalacharan to understand Ramcharit Manas. Just like one has to be a “fit student” to achieve Jeevan Mukti in Vedanta. The minimum qualification to achieve it is to be disciplined, strictly adhere to the advice of theGuru and have complete faith in the teachings. The Mangalcharans start by offering prayers to Ganesh and Sarswati, the Ishta Devatas of knowledge.
He recapped Doha 53 and further explained the meaning of words निज अग्यानु. Here, Shankar is not Sati’s husband. He is in the form of her Guru. Because she did not listen to the Guru, she failed to understand Shri Ram. ( By not following Guru’s words one will not get true knowledge). If you don”t understand his words, accept your ignorance but do not test the Guru.
53:2 In these words, Ramu sahit shri bhrata (रामू साहित श्री भ्र!ता) shri means Sita.
53:3 The word Besha (बेशा) is significant. It represents Naam, Roop.
53:4 The words Bishnu Anekaa ( बिष्णू अनेका) signifies the virat roop of Shri Ram. Sati saw multiple forms Brahma, Vishnu and Shiv with their powers (Sarswati, Laxmi and Parvati), which were worshipped by Sages and Rishis. In spite of the description of the multiple forms, one must remember that there is only one Brahman.
Vijay ji further explained the powers of 33 Koti Devtas. Here Tulsidas ji is teaching us that Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh too are Devtas.
54:1 Sur (सूर)= Devi, Devta. Jeev Charachar (जीव चराचर)= All living beings. Sati, after seeing Devi, Devtas is now experiencing the Samsar.
54:3 Raguvar is Parambrhama, Paramatma
Sita is Maya. Brahman+Maya=Ishwar (Shri Ram)
Laxman=Samsar
Sati is shaken up after seeing this unusual sight.
54:4: Tulsidas ji uses the word Dacchakumari (दच्चकुमारी) for Sati. (Daccha(दच्च) means Ego).
Doha 55: With a faint smile Shiv ji asked Sati ” tell me honestly, how did the test go?”
55;1 ” I did not take any test. I only offered my respect and returned” Sati says.
55:2 In Spite of knowing that Shivji knows everything, Sati could not stop from lying.
Jai Shree Ram
