Review
Shankarji did a quick review of the 2 virtues which we had learnt – Viveka & Vairaagya.
Reflection/ discussion
We had small group discussion in breakout room on the 4 questions reviewing previous classes. Shankarji shared his reflections too with the whole class.
Q.1 – Are you happy? Why or why not?
Shankarji’s reflection – Whenever we get to do the things we like, you tend to feel happy but only for a short time. To experience of happiness to last for a long time, one has to be doing things that are meaningful, work that absorbs you.
Q.2 – What is your greatest strength and your greatest weakness?
Shankarji’s reflection – We will be exploring our strengths and weaknesses in more details in upcoming classes.
Q.3 – What is Prioritization? How do you practice it?
Shankarji’s reflection – Prioritization is being able to know what is important in our lives. One way to practice prioritization is to make a schedule/ journal. A strategy to prioritize is facing and finishing the annoying tasks first so one won’t procrasniate and can actually prioritize the remaining tasks.
Q.4 – How do you practice acceptance?
Shankarji’s reflection – Focus on the positives of a given situation even if it is not a situation you particularly enjoy. Try to get yourself out of the negative thinking and focus on all the ways the situation can benefit you. The strategy is to extend the time frame of your thinking; think in the long term and how it will feel way better than it may feel in the moment.
RAW
Bring a journal to our class to write in every day.
