Last few classes we have been focusing on –

  • Realizing our potential
  • Being the best you.

2 pieces of that are your attitude and effort. Thinking is not doing, doing in doing.

Before thanksgiving we talked about getting a new perspective. We can get a new perspective by acknowledging all we have.

Story

There was a generous and kind hearted king. The people the king ruled over were not happy with him. The king was very lazy and wouldn’t do anything. He spent all year in his bed sleeping and eating. Everyone started to worry about him.

One day when the King woke up he couldn’t get up or move his body as he was so large. People started to worry. How is the king going to protect the people if he can’t move. The king realized and called all the doctors. The doctors came from all over the country. No body could help the king be fit and healthy.

One day a holy person came to visit the country. He heard about the health about the king and informed that he can help the king. The holy person lived in a far off place. The minister aske the holy person to come to the palace. The holy person refused and said the king had to go to the holy person to be cured. The king went to the holy person. The holy person complimented him and praised him stating he was a good king. He told the king he will regain your health. He asked the king to come tomorrow for his first treatment. He told the king he would only be treated if he went to the his place. So the king went and the holy person was not home. His friend said come back tomorrow and he wasn’t home. He went every day for days and months. He never met the holy person. He noticed he was able to see his feet and less people needed to help him. He lost weight and was jogging. He realized why the holy person had asked him to come by walking. Soon he became healthy happy and was able to serve his kingdom.

Lesson

  • When we only do what we want to feel like doing, we hurt ourselves and our wants begin to control us. The king only wanted to eat and sleep and by doing that he hurt himself. He couldn’t protect his people
  • Not to do what you feel like doing, it is freedom.
  • Finding balance between those things we want and need is most important.
  • Your health is most important to realizing your best self. Keeping ourselves healthy by eating healthy and exercising is our responsibility.
  • Samatva(balance) key to being your best you.
  • We need to balance our wants and needs.

RAW

When you are about to ask for something you want, ask yourself Do I need this.
