We are going to learn on how to develop relationships/interact with all of the things in the world in a balanced way. Developing the right relationships with the objects around us builds the right relationships. These relationships will help us be happy even if the objects are there or aren’t.

Story

Once there was a human who woke up one day and realized there were only 3 strands of hair on her head. The human decided to braid the hair with only the 3 strands and had a really good day. The next day, when the human woke up, she only had 2 strands of hair left. That day the human decided to part the hair that day and that day she had an even better day. The next day when she woke up, she only had one strand of hair left and the human decided to put the hair in a ponytail. She had an even BETTER day. The next day, the human had no more hair but she was still joyful and went about her days.

Lesson from the story

We should do our best to always have a good attitude because even if we can’t control what is happening outside, we can control what we do and our attitude and mood. If we do this, no matter what happens outside, we will still be in a good mood and enjoy and be cheerful.

Activity

In today’s activity, we had numbers by our name and Sumanji would pick a number and whichever person had that number, would have to do something that Sumanji said. It might have been uncomfortable or awkward but it showed that, if we had a good attitude, we would be cheerful and do what Sumanji said happily, even if it was uncomfortable, and whatever we had to do would be enjoyable too.

RAW

When you are about to take a shower, we should go in the shower before we switch on the tap.

Review

Last week in class we learned that we can have fun but it is also important to focus on our responsibilities. Once Sumanji wanted this pencil with this huge eraser on it. So he asked his dad for it and his dad said that he had to work it off. So he worked it off by washing the dishes and all that stuff. When he got the pencil he was really happy. He showed everyone his awesome pencil. Then he left for a minute to go to the bathroom and when he came back his pencil was gone. He was so sad that his pencil that he had worked for was gone! When he went home and told his dad that his pencil was gone his dad just told him “Oh well now you just have to use a regular pencil”. So we learned that we needed to be balanced.

Story

Sumanji told us a story about a human. When the human woke up in the morning there were 3 strands of hair on the human’s head. The human said “I think I will braid my hair today”. The human went on with their day and had the best day ever! That night when the human went to sleep they had the best night of sleep ever! When the human woke up the next morning there were 2 strands of hair on their head. The human said “I think I will part my hair today”. The human went on with their day and they had the greatest day ever! That night the human went to bed and they had the greatest sleep ever! The next morning when the human woke up there was 1 strand of hair on their head. The human said “I think I will put my hair in a ponytail today”. The human went on with their day and had the most spectacular day ever! That night when the human went to sleep they had the best rest anyone could possibly have! The next morning the human woke up and there was not a single strand left on their head. The human smiled and said “Even better, now I don’t even have to do anything to my hair”. “I can also help mother Earth and not waste too much water when I wash my hair”!

Lesson from the story

What we learned from this story is that it is all about our attitude. It didn’t matter to the human whether they had hair or didn’t have hair. The human chose to look at their situation with positivity. Life is always going to be a rollercoaster but we have the option to view the ups and downs of life with negativity or positivity. Their attitude was the only thing that they could control. The human wasn’t a magical superhero or super villain to control life, were they?

Sumanji shared that if we get a new phone and drop it we will be angry at ourselves for 5 minutes. But if Sumanji drops your phone and it turns to ashes then we would be mad at him for all of eternity. Right? We wouldn’t trust him to hold something so precious to us ever again. He also shared that if we have to hold a glass of water on our palms with our hands stretched out for a minute we would be okay. But if we had to do that for an hour we would be doing the 3 C’s.

The 3 C’s

  •  Complaining
  •  Criticizing
  •  Crying

Instead we could change our attitude by accepting the situation. Accepting the situation doesn’t necessarily mean that we are giving up. It just means that we are going with the flow.

Activity

In class we also played an activity. We all had numbers by our names and Sumanji randomly picked a number. If he picked our number then he would pick a card randomly and we had to do whatever it said on that card.  So if my number got picked I had to do whatever it said on the card that Sumanji picked.

Some of the things it said on the index cards

  •  Talk about Photosynthesis for 30 seconds
  •  Convince us that the Earth is flat for 30 seconds
  •  Make up a song for 30 seconds
  •  Dance for 30 seconds

RAW

Get in the shower then turn it on. Good luck! (Go with the flow)
