Notes by Ira Mehta

Quote: “If you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re probably right.”

Value: Sama meaning balanced

* Mid 1800s tightrope walker Charles Blondin demonstrates being balanced. He crossed Niagara Falls and did it again with a blindfold, again with his manager on his back, and again carrying a small stove which he cooked omelets in once he reached the American side.

* You cannot control what is outside of you, but you can control what is inside of you.

* Suppose someone calls you a donkey and you were acting like one, you should say thank you and stop. But if you weren’t acting like one, then you shouldn’t take it personally.

* When you know you can control what’s inside of you, you can adapt so you never lose your balance.

PRACTICE: Riddle-

Eight letter word. Every time you remove a letter, it makes another word till the last letter.

Hints: Very common, starts with s and ends in g, and synonym for beginning.

Answer: Starting

* Taoism is a way of life not only practiced in a room but also everywhere else.

* Taoism teaches you to learn from your experiences.

* When you’re happy, everything outside is sweet

* Someone who is an attention seeker has no balance because they go up when they get compliments and come down if they don’t. Someone who is an attentions giver has balance.

QUESTIONS-

Q — How can I deal with a parent who thinks they’re right but you know they’re wrong?

A — Talk to them like you’re an adult, reflect, and maybe ask another adult to talk to your parents

Q — How to deal with a sibling who thinks they’re right but you know they’re wrong?

A — Make sure you’re clear about who is right and wrong, communicate with them, and tell your parents.
