Last Week’s RAW
- Nothing is inherently stressful
- It’s only our relationship with it that determines whether it stresses us
- Your reflection changes everyday — what are you so attached to?
- Why do I dress up/look in the mirror so much? For others?
This Week
- 3 Possible Stress Triggers: People, Resources, Time
- If Demand = Supply → No Change in Stress
- If Demand > Supply → More Stress
- If Demand < Supply → Less Stress
- Efficiency – Increasing Supply (of People, Resources, Time)
- Effectiveness – Reducing Demand (on People, Resources, Time)
- Time:
- Supply is fixed (hours in a day)
- Demand is variable (number of responsibilities)
- Improve Efficiency – Quicken your routines to decrease demand on time
- Sleeping – Average healthy human being needs 6 hours of sleep
- You can train yourself to fall asleep quicker & rise quicker
- Bed is intended for sleeping, not thoughts
- When alarm rings, the bed no longer exists – get out of it!
- How much time do we waste going to & getting out of bed?
- Grooming – People aren’t looking at you, they’re thinking about how they look
- Less comfort (colder showers) → More efficiency
- Eating – Food is functional — it’s medicine for the disease that is the body
- We spend so much time eating
- When eating, we’re thinking of the next food item already – be present
- Spend less time in functional, & move on
- Sleeping – Average healthy human being needs 6 hours of sleep
- Improve Effectiveness
- Learn to say no to the transactional
- If it’s meaningful/will enrich your life, say yess
- If it’s transactional (social gathering, event, hangout), say no
- Your time is worth more than that
- Learn to say no to the transactional
- When we find value in something, when something enriches our lives, we should share it
- Giving back is immensely powerful & life-changing
- How can I give back to this community? What is my guru dakshina?
- RAW: Make a list of your possessions, and spend 30 seconds thinking about them before splitting them into wants and needs
