Shivji accepts wedding proposal

Summary of last session (October 14) by Shri Mohan Khandekar

Shri Vijay ji started the session by explaining that the universe continues to function because of the law of cause and effect. This law can describe “everything” but it stops at the level of Maya because true scriptural knowledge does not accept this law. To understand in depth, we must accept the teachings of Vedas which have two components.  Purva Mimansa (पूर्व मीमांसा): Upasana, Bhakti and Uttar Mimansa (उत्तर मीमांसा): knowledge.

Shri Ram is Tulsidas ji’s and he truly believes that Ram manifests itself because of the love of a devotee. Shri Ram is described in Ram Charit Manas as both Nirgun and Ishwar (Sagun).

After these words, Vijay ji reviewed Doha 76 which alludes to Shiv ji accepting the wedding proposal to Parvati Maa only after insistence of Shri Ram.

Doha 88 where Devtaas are eagerly waiting for the ceremony to commence.

91:2 In spite of  a unconventional wedding attire worn by Shiv ji, He is wealth of love and compassion.

91:3

कर त्रिसूल अरु डमरु बिराजा। चले बसहँचढ़ि बाजहिं बाजा ॥

देखि सिवहि सुरत्रिय मुसुकाहीं। बर लायक दुलहिनि जग नाहीं ॥

This Choupahi can be interpreted in two ways: “He doesn’t look too good.  Who in right mind will marry Him?”.  Another interpretation ” After all He is Ishwar.  Who truly has ability to marry Him?”.

91:4 This Choupahi describes Shiv ji’s wedding procession and Devataas being critical about it.  Here, Vijay ji compared the Ishwar’s procession to our parade of thoughts.

Doha 92: The word “Dishiraj” stands for 10 directions and their respective Devataas “appointed” by Shri Vishnu. Vijay ji gave a detailed description of directions and the names of their corresponding  Devataas.

92:1: Devataas accepted the suggestion by Shri Vishnu and proceeded separately in the procession.

92:2: Another meaning of Bhrungi (भृंगी) is Nandi.

Vijay ji pointed our attention to the indicative meaning of a law behind this unusual wedding procession.

An action performed will be followed by creation of a Vasana. This can be described in four stages.

1. We get a Drashta Phal (दृष्ट फल) from Devi, Devataas.

2. This fruit of action generates a Vasana.

3. This Vasana will appear  sometimes in the future.

4. Ishwar will give Adrushta Phal (अदृष्ट फल)

Jai Shree Ram
