Our Vision – ARK

September 20, 2023

Story

There was once a child who was telling his dad how his life was always filled with problems and challenges. His dad listened to him, and after he was done speaking, took him to the kitchen, where they started boiling water in three different pots. The child is confused, and watches as his dad puts a potato in one pot, an egg in the other, and coffee beans in the last and lets it boil. Finally, his dad takes the items out from each pot, and lets them cool. He then asks the child to hold each item. First, he holds the potato. Originally, the potato was hard and rough, but now, it squished in his hand, and became a mush. On the other hand, the delicate egg that was boiled, becomes rubbery and hard. Finally, he drinks the water from the coffee beans. They were originally bitter, but after being boiled, it made a delicious coffee and was completely transformed.

Lesson

For each of the boiled items, the boiling water was an adversity that they had to face. The originally tough potato became weak under the pressure of challenges, while the delicate egg became tough and resilient. Meanwhile, the coffee beans went from bitter to an awesome drink, and were completely transformed. The truth is, we all face challenges in life. If you complain about these challenges, you will become weak like the potato. If you practice discipline, then you will become resilient and strong. If you see every challenge as an opportunity to become a better person, you will be like the coffee beans, and completely transform.

This year, the curriculum for happy hour will be focusing on lifestyle in three different ways. These ways can be described with the acronym:

A – Action- How we conduct ourselves.

R – Relation- The attitude in which we relate to the world and ourselves.

K – Knowledge- The knowledge that shapes our vision of the world.

We will focus on these three attributes throughout the year to show how we can live our best life.

The RAW (Reflection Adventure of the Week), is to try to avoid saying any negative things, not to others and not to ourselves.
