Summary of last session (April 15) by Shri Mohan Khandekar

A workshop of “Understanding Behavior” was organised prior to the last session. Shri Vijay ji explained the meaning of these two words with “knowledge” and “Character building” respectively. Three Gurus help you to achieve this:

Karmaguru eg Parents, Arjun-Dronacharaya

Dharmaguru eg Parents, Grandparents, Neighbors, Teacher

Gyanguru, the one who imparts the true knowledge of liberation

Good behavior is the teaching of Dharmaguru and Karmaguru. Therefore parents must present themselves as good role models.

Gyanguru is also called Vedantaguru, Pramguru and Sadguru.  He passes on the true knowledge of being one with Supreme consciousness (तत्वमसी).  These teachings are of two kinds:

Through Perception (प्रत्यक्ष प्रमाण) and through Inference (अनुमान प्रमाण).  After this introduction, Vijay ji directed our attention to  89:4 of Ramcharit Manas about character. “If the dry leaves are kept near the fire, it is bound to get burnt”, Parvati addresses Devi, Devtas, in reference to the destruction of Kamdev (desire) by Shiv ji.

87:1 This Choupahi is about Shiv ji’s declaration that Kamdev will be born  in the form of Pradumn.  महामाई भारा means a sinful person.  (Vijay ji reminded us that Tulsidas ji was inspired to write Pavan Tanay Sankat Harnam पवन तनय संकट हरनं) from this Choupai).  Here the word Bachanu (बचनू) means Shiva’s promise, the final word.

87:2/3 All Devi and Devtas proceed to Shiv ji’s abode to express their desire for Him to be married.

We will continue the story further next week.

Jai Shree Ram
