Viveka – Wants vs Needs

October 6, 2021

Notes by Rishi Nene

We started the class with 3 Aum’s.

Story –

Sumanji told us the story of a Donkey and a Tiger, this Donkey was claiming the grass is blue and the tiger argues with the donkey that grass is green. They both go to King Lion. Donkey convinces the King Lion that grass is blue, when the tiger disagrees after arguing with the donkey and losing the argument, the King Lion gives a punishment for 3 years of jail to Tiger. After the unexpected punishment, the Tiger meets the King, the King says the grass is green and Tiger gets angry and asks the king why did you send me to jail. The King says, you should never argue with dumb non-intelligent donkey when you know the truth. Not only you wasted your time arguing with him, in the end you lost the argument, that’s why I punished you.

Moral –

Donkey is an unwanted desire in our head. We keep running after unwanted items in our life. Tiger is critical and smart thinking in our head with low desire and good judgement. We always try to forget the Tiger in our head and just listen to our inner Donkey when we should stop doing it. We should always believe in our tiger thinking rather than our donkey leading us in the wrong way.  Suman Jee  also told his personal story about the iPad which was awesome.

RAW –

Ask yourself everyday who did you feed, the Donkey (Our wants) or the Tiger (Our needs).

We ended the class with 3 Aum’s.
